A new mobile app will make mental health help more easily accessibly for young people around the country.

Kids Helpline has launched the ‘niggle by Kids Helpline’ app which allows young people to reach out when they have a mental health worry or niggle, giving them access to resources and strategies through the app.

your town CEO Tracy Adams explained it can work in conjunction with Kids Helpline, or can be used as a stand alone option for young people.

“niggle by Kids Helpline is a well-being toolkit that promotes self-help using the full resources of Kids Helpline to offer valuable information to teens and young people to check and monitor their mental health and well-being,” she said.

“Most importantly this new app is youth-driven, it has been designed with young people for young people.”

The app was developed in collaboration with QUT.

Dr Oksana Zelenko, Director of the Research Impact and Excellence in the Creative Industries faculty, said it was designed to suit teens and young people from 13-25.

“The niggle app is completely novel in how it blends traditional and mobile mental health interventions to benefit the wellbeing of young Australians.  I can see it could also have a future on a global level,” she said.
