Stonnington families urged to walk to school

It’s time to get kids walking, riding and scooting to school as part of the Walk to School program.

Every October, Walk to School encourages kids and families to get active on the trip to and from school to help build healthy habits for life.

The City of Stonnington will host healthy breakfasts at local primary schools and implement designated safe drop off zones for families who drive part of the way to school.

City of Stonnington Mayor, Cr Steve Stefanopoulos, said the Walk to School program is an easy and fun way for kids to get active and learn healthy habits for life.

“We want to make walking to school easy by holding healthy breakfasts and fun activities at local primary schools,” he said.

“We’re spreading the word about being healthy and active across the community and encouraging everyone with a school-going family member to join in.”

Local primary schools Korowa Anglican Girls, Lloyd Street Primary School, Malvern Primary School, Malvern Valley Primary and Windsor Primary are all taking part in the program.
